Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 17, 2026
Maclip is a clipboard history app for macOS. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it. The short version: Maclip does not collect, transmit or share any of your data.
What Maclip stores
To show your clipboard history, Maclip saves the text and images you copy, plus your settings, on your Mac only. They are kept inside Maclip's own sandbox container (~/Library/Containers/com.clipboard.Maclip), which macOS protects from other apps. You control how long items are kept and how many, and you can delete single items or clear your history at any time. Deleting Maclip and its container removes everything.
Items that password managers and similar apps mark as private or temporary (the org.nspasteboard.ConcealedType convention) are not recorded.
What Maclip does not do
- It does not send any data off your Mac. The app has no network access at all.
- It has no accounts, analytics, advertising, tracking or third-party SDKs.
- It does not sell or share information with anyone.
Permissions
Clipboard access: Maclip reads the clipboard to record what you copy, which is its core function. macOS may ask you to allow this.
Accessibility (optional): used only to press ⌘V in the app you were using, so a chosen item is pasted automatically. Maclip does not use this permission to read your screen or other apps' content. You can turn it off at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
Children
Maclip does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
